Stone: Calcite on Chalcedony
Weight: 180 g
Size: 11 × 5 cm
Treatment: None
Origin: Madan, Bulgaria

This natural mineral specimen features well-developed calcite crystals naturally formed on a chalcedony matrix. The contrast between the defined calcite crystals and the compact, microcrystalline chalcedony creates a balanced and characteristic association from the Madan region.

Under UV light, the calcite shows an intense, bright pink fluorescence that immediately draws attention. The color appears rich and luminous against the chalcedony matrix, giving the specimen a powerful visual presence. The fluorescence photographs were taken using long-wave UV light (365 nm).

Calcite is known for its diverse crystal habits and optical properties, while chalcedony forms a dense silica base, making this combination both visually striking and mineralogically interesting.
